DESCRIPTION:NECC’s Emergency Notification System has been updated! \nOur system will now include a desktop notification feature in addition to the existing text message and email alerts. This means that emergency alerts will appear directly on college-managed computers\, ensuring that everyone on campus receives important information without delay. \nHow It Works: \n\nDesktop Notifications: Alerts will automatically display on college computers when you are logged in. To deactivate the desktop notification\, you can click the green “Acknowledge” button on your screen.\nText & Email Notifications: Messages will continue to be sent to your registered phone number and email address.\nPlease make sure your contact information is up to date. Students can update their cell phone and email addresses in MyNECC under the Banner Self-Service section. We will look at why certain AI writing habits make text less convincing\, even when the grammar is correct. Examples include overused phrases like “delve into” or “it’s important to note.” We will also examine constructions\, like rhetorical contrasts such as “not only… but also”\, that are often used in AI-generated text. Participants will learn to spot these patterns in student work. We will discuss how to give better feedback when we see AI-influenced writing. The workshop will also cover how to use AI tools more effectively in our own work.
