Steve Mathis of the English Department will take a half-time sabbatical in the fall of 2011 and the spring of 2012 to explore alternatives to the traditional college research paper. “The traditional research paper assignment currently still practiced in many classes is becoming less and less relevant to our students and the courses they enroll in,” wrote Mathis.
