Lawrence, MA (September 2, 2026) — Students on the Lawrence Campus of Northern Essex Community College now have a newly remodeled space to study, meet, and recharge. On Wednesday, the first day of classes of the ’26-27 academic year, the Student Government Association and NECC Student Life held a ribbon-cutting for the Lawrence Student Lounge. The space is anchored by a vibrant, custom mural created by local artist Anna Dugah. The mural shows members of the NECC community, including students of all ages, depicting a slice of life at the college.
The lounge remodel was a gift from last year’s student body via the Student Government Association. It contains a variety of seating and places for students to meet and connect. The lounge is located on the ground floor of the Dimitry Building just outside of the Library.
