Haverhill, MA (August 31, 2026) — Nearly 180 golfers gathered at Haverhill’s Renaissance Golf Club on Monday for the 9th Annual Northern Essex Community College Golf Tournament. The tournament, supported by more than 40 sponsors, is the single largest fundraiser for the NECC athletic program.
One hundred and seventy-nine golfers teed off between morning and afternoon flights. Scott Eaton, Pat Eaton, Mark Bailey and Marc MacBurnie were the winners of the morning flight, while the foursome of Wyatt Hogan, Derek Davoli, Chris English and Ed Rossi took the afternoon.
Prizes were also awarded for the longest drive on hole 14, closest to the pin on 17, and the Raffle on the green par 3 challenge sponsored by the Academic Coaches on Hole 2.
The raffle on the green winners were Dan Hogan of Lakeside Motors in the morning and Mike Balas of R-Squared Office Panels and Furniture.
The winners of the women’s longest drive were Carolina Pineau in the morning and Justine Balas in the afternoon. Women’s closest to the pin winners were Caroline Pineau and Stacy Palovich. The men with the longest drive were Matt Morin and Max DeMayo, while men’s closest to the pin winners were Dan Hogan and Ed Rossi.
The Knights are coming off a record-breaking year with the men’s basketball team and shot putter Maci Abbatessa winning national titles. And the Northern Essex Community College athletic program finished 12th in the final standings of the NATYCAA Ron Case Cup presented by Daktronics in the non-scholarship division. The Ron Case Cup recognizes excellence in two-year college athletics based on championship competition. The Knights’ 12th-place finish marks the highest finish ever by a community or junior college in New England in the 23 years the cup has been awarded.
