{"id":22718,"date":"2024-02-26T19:51:24","date_gmt":"2024-02-27T00:51:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom2\/2024\/02\/27\/necc-welcomes-new-associate-director-of-corporate-and-foundation-relations\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T11:59:54","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T15:59:54","slug":"necc-welcomes-new-associate-director-of-corporate-and-foundation-relations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom\/2024\/02\/26\/necc-welcomes-new-associate-director-of-corporate-and-foundation-relations\/","title":{"rendered":"NECC Welcomes New Associate Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For 20 years, Peter Twichell has worked to remove barriers to success for young people and their families in the U.S. and abroad.\u00a0 Now, as the new Associate Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at Northern Essex Community College, he uses his vast experience to help improve access to education closer to home.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInterestingly, the people I meet 20 minutes from my home have the same passion and interests as people I\u2019ve met around the world,\u201d remarks Twichell. \u201cAnd many of the same challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_27710\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom2\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2026\/02\/324-5669.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-27710\" class=\" wp-image-27710\" src=\"http:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom2\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2026\/02\/324-5669.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-27710\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Peter Twichell, Associate Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In this role, Twichell serves as a link between the college, private foundations, and corporations. He identifies opportunities for financial support through grants or corporate or foundation giving to fund critical programs and initiatives. Right now, Twichell sees a lot of potential for growth with workforce development programs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWorkforce development, as a training issue, needs to be a cross-sector partnership involving the private sector, government, and local nonprofits. I see Northern Essex on the forefront of this as we\u2019re so connected to the local community and can be more responsive to local business needs,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>Supporting young people in pursuing their potential has been a common thread in Twichell\u2019s previous roles. He spent much of his career working for the YouthBuild organization. YouthBuild creates national and global partnerships to develop training programs for young people. More recently, he was the Program Director for The Edna McConnell Clark Foundation, which awards grants to youth-serving organizations that help vulnerable young people successfully transition to independent adulthood. Twichell says that through these experiences, he understands what it\u2019s like to both seek and award grant funding.<\/p>\n<p>Twichell has enjoyed connecting with students, faculty, and the local business community since he began his new role at the college about two months ago. He\u2019s looking forward to strengthening those bonds and working to support programs that benefit all the communities the college serves.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re at an interesting time for community colleges, and I\u2019m impressed by the tremendous support for our work on both the local and state levels.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Twichell holds a master\u2019s degree in international management.
