He will begin his duties on April 24th.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_26453\" style=\"width: 306px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/03\/CoachStratton-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26453\" class=\" wp-image-26453\" src=\"http:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom2\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2026\/02\/CoachStratton-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"coach kneels in front of seated players, talking to them about plays\" width=\"296\" height=\"197\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-26453\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Darren Stratton was recently named NJCAA East District Coach of the Year<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In his role, Stratton will manage all aspects of the college\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom\/2023\/04\/19\/inter-campus-shuttle-service-to-return\/\">new campus transportation program<\/a> between the Haverhill and Lawrence campuses while taking on additional responsibilities within the Athletic program. Stratton will serve as the liaison for athletics to the college\u2019s academic coaching program and the alumni office to enhance outreach to student-athlete alumni.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m thrilled to be able to have Coach Stratton join the college in a full-time capacity, he\u2019s given more than half his lifetime to NECC as a student and part-time coaching staff member. He\u2019s made a positive impact on hundreds of student-athletes at the college over the years and I look forward to his impact being felt across campus. His connections in the Merrimack Valley run deep and will only work to benefit the entire college community,\u201d commented Blair.<\/p>\n<p>In this multi-faceted position Stratton will additionally assist the athletic department with its community outreach within the colleges service area.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to joining the college full-time Stratton has served 20 years at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.neccknights.com\/sports\/mbkb\/index\">Knights head men\u2019s basketball<\/a> coach, a role he will continue in while also assisting in the build-up of the women\u2019s basketball program.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNorthern Essex is my home. What I see in today\u2019s students I saw in myself 25 years ago. Our students today are challenged on many fronts in and out of school.
