Students can register now for one of the 126 courses offered completely online at Northern Essex Community College for the spring semester, which begins January 19.<\/p>\n

Fully online courses are available in most disciplines, including Business, Liberal Arts, Health, STEM, Criminal Justice, Education, and more.<\/p>\n

There are intro courses for students new to college as well as more advanced courses for returning students.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are pleased to be able to offer students an alternative to face-to-face instruction,\u201d said Dr. Paul Beaudin, vice president of academic affairs. \u201cMost of our students are working and many have families. Online courses remove barriers to access.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to the fully online courses, Northern Essex will also offer 70 hybrid courses this spring, which combine in-person meetings with online work.<\/p>\n

The college has\u00a011 programs that are 80% online<\/a>\u00a0as well as\u00a0three new fully online programs<\/a>\u00a0in Business Transfer, Criminal Justice, and General Studies: Health Specialization.<\/p>\n

Northern Essex also has support services available including tutoring, library services, and accessibility resources.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want students and their parents to know we are ready to support those who cannot come on campus,\u201d said Melba Acevedo, Northern Essex\u2019s director of instructional technology and online learning.<\/p>\n

In September, the presidents of the Massachusetts community colleges announced that students, faculty, and staff at the Commonwealth\u2019s 15 community colleges must be fully vaccinated by January 2022<\/a>. Students who register for courses that do not include an in-person component and who do not plan to come on campus for the spring 2022 semester will not be required to provide documentation of vaccination.<\/p>\n

Northern Essex Community College has campuses in both Haverhill and Lawrence.
