{"id":26771,"date":"2020-05-22T14:06:31","date_gmt":"2020-05-22T18:06:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom2\/2020\/05\/22\/microinternships\/"},"modified":"2026-04-07T09:50:11","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T13:50:11","slug":"microinternships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom\/2020\/05\/22\/microinternships\/","title":{"rendered":"NECC Career Services Expands to include Micro-Internships"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_17572\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/media-old\/2018\/04\/34967482573_f4c4a20f88_k.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17572\" class=\"wp-image-17572 size-medium\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/media-old\/2018\/04\/34967482573_f4c4a20f88_k-300x206.jpg\" alt=\"Young woman talks to a man and woman who were shown from the back taking notes.\" width=\"300\" height=\"206\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-17572\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ashley Moore, NECC Career Services Director, interacts with students and employers at a networking night held before the pandemic.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Northern Essex Community College\u2019s Career Services is now offering\u00a0a service for\u00a0micro-internships, short term, paid\u00a0professional assignments that are carried out remotely over 15 to 40-hours.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese micro-internships will give students\u00a0supplemental income and\u00a0valuable skills quickly, while providing local\u00a0and national\u00a0employers with help on special projects,\u201d said Ashley Moore, director of career services.<\/p>\n<p>The college is partnering with\u00a0three local chambers\u2014Merrimack Valley, Greater Haverhill,\u00a0and\u00a0Greater Newburyport\u2014to expand opportunities for students, and with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.parkerdewey.com\/\">Parker Dewey<\/a>, a micro-internship\u00a0consulting company to offer this service.<\/p>\n<p>Companies who are interested in\u00a0learning more about micro-internships and how to post assignments\u00a0can attend a virtual information session hosted by Parker Dewey founder Jeffrey Moss and Moore on June 2 at 12:30 pm.\u00a0Employers can register <a href=\"http:\/\/info.parkerdewey.com\/necc-micro-internship-webinar\">here<\/a> or by contacting Moore at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:amoore@necc.mass.edu\">amoore@necc.mass.edu<\/a>\u00a0or 978 556-3946.<\/p>\n<p>Moore said this new opportunity will add to the more traditional semester-long internships which the college currently offers, and also provide a safe alternative during the pandemic since all micro-internships are offered remotely.<\/p>\n<p>All Northern Essex students and alumni will have access to the website and be eligible to apply for micro-internships.\u00a0\u00a0 When posted, the micro-internships will include details as well as the pay for the project.
