The college has been exploring an expanded partnership with the YMCA, according to Mike McCarthy, Northern Essex\u2019s vice president of administration. It made sense to take the first step by contracting with the YMCA, a longstanding resource for child care in the Haverhill community.<\/p>\n<p>The Haverhill YMCA plans to offer early education programs for infants, toddlers, and preschool\/pre-kindergartners, 7 am to 6 pm, Monday through Friday, Priority will be given to the families of Northern Essex faculty and staff, although community families are welcome. The YMCA will also offer learning and practicum opportunities for students in Northern Essex\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.necc.mass.edu\/learn\/credit-programs\/education\/\">Early Childhood Education Program<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are thrilled to move forward in partnership with Northern Essex to begin a new collaborative YMCA early learning experience at the college. This will provide essential childcare to faculty and staff while also offering a space for students studying early education to gain practical experience,\u201d said Tracy Fuller, Regional Executive Director, Haverhill and Plaistow Community YMCA. The YMCA of the North Shore has child care centers at eight locations throughout the North Shore.
