{"id":27026,"date":"2019-01-15T17:35:27","date_gmt":"2019-01-15T22:35:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom2\/2019\/01\/15\/necc-chemistry-professor-mike-cross-to-present-on-csi-at-local-libraries\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T14:10:16","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T18:10:16","slug":"necc-chemistry-professor-mike-cross-to-present-on-csi-at-local-libraries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom\/2019\/01\/15\/necc-chemistry-professor-mike-cross-to-present-on-csi-at-local-libraries\/","title":{"rendered":"NECC Chemistry Professor Mike Cross to Present on CSI at Local Libraries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/media-old\/2019\/01\/Mike-Cross.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-19554\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/media-old\/2019\/01\/Mike-Cross-210x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"210\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>Do you like watching crime shows on television?\u00a0 Are you interested in knowing whether they accurately depict the role of forensic science in solving crimes?<\/p>\n<p>If the answer is yes, consider attending one of Northern Essex Community College Chemistry Professor Mike Cross\u2019s presentations at local libraries in Boxford (January 19),\u00a0 Wilmington (February 13), Amesbury (April 24), and Billerica (May 30).<\/p>\n<p>In his presentation \u201cCSI: Fact &amp; Fiction,\u201d Professor Cross will share his knowledge on the myths and realities of crime scene investigations.\u00a0 Attendees will learn the strengths and limitations of modern forensics and will have the chance to test their own skills at crime solving.\u00a0 These presentations are all free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>Mike Cross holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Utah, where he specialized in oxidative lesions in DNA and RNA.
