Gwynnethe Glickman, performing in the fall play “Stupid F*cking Bird”<\/p><\/div>\n

The fall play at Northern Essex Community College<\/a>, \u201cStupid F*cking Bird\u201d, received two awards at the 51st annual Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival<\/a> (KCACTF) for region I. The festival was held from January 29 to February 2 at Cape Cod Community College.<\/p>\n

The play received the award for 2019 \u2018Best Ensemble\u2019, and NECC student Gwynnethe Glickman of Newbury was honored nationally as a \u2018distinguished performer\u2019.<\/p>\n

Glickman is an elementary education major, who is active in the theater program at Northern Essex.<\/p>\n

After winning the award she described feeling \u201cReally surprised! They announced the winners about a month after the actual festival. I was shocked, I didn\u2019t think I was going to win anything, so it was a really cool moment for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

NECC theater professor Brianne Beatrice said of Glickman, \u201cCongratulations to our national award winner Gwynnethe Glickman on her award\u2026 I am crying tears of pride but I am not in the least bit surprised.\u201d<\/p>\n

Glickman described her experience at the festival as, \u201cA lot of fun, we performed the show twice at the festival. We had respondents come and watch the show. They were very supportive and gave great feedback and constructive criticism.\u201d<\/p>\n

The KCACTF honors excellence of overall production and offers student artist\u2019s individual recognition through awards and scholarships in playwriting, acting, criticism, directing, and design.<\/p>\n

The spring play at NECC \u201cGood People\u201d will premiere at the Top Notch Theater located on the third floor of the Spurk building on the Haverhill campus on Thursday, May 2, at 4 p.m. It will also be showing on Friday May 3, and Saturday May 4 at 7 p.m. and on Saturday May 4 and Sunday May 5 at 2 p.m.<\/p>\n
