Stay in shape while running the campus. Join NECC President Lane Glenn’s Running Club.<\/p><\/div>\n

If you are looking to get in or stay in shape, the NECC President\u2019s Running Cub, which begins Monday, September 16, for veteran and novice runners, joggers, and walkers, is an exercise option for you.<\/p>\n

The club, now in its 6th year, meets every Monday at from 12:15 \u00a0to 1 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 8 to 9 a.m. in the lobby of the Sport & Fitness Center on the Haverhill campus. It is open to staff, faculty, and students. Participants run or walk the college\u2019s scenic campus, typically choosing one to three laps around the campus (about 1 to 3 miles).<\/p>\n

Those new to running are invited to join the \u201ccouch to 5K program\u201d led by Jeff Bickford, NECC\u2019s chief information officer.<\/p>\n

You can choose to participate every week or on a drop-in basis.\u00a0 If Mondays or Wednesdays don\u2019t work, you can choose to run on your own as a virtual runner and log-in to the\u00a0President\u2019s Running Club\u00a0website.<\/p>\n

Everyone who participates in a minimum number of runs, either on Mondays, Wednesdays, or by logging in, will receive free NECC running gear as well as free entry into a selected race each semester.\u00a0Details will be posted on the NECC President Running Club\u2019s website soon.<\/p>\n

Those intending to participate in\u00a0the President\u2019s running Club should fill out a\u00a0risk and consent form<\/a>\u00a0and bring it on the first walk\/run.<\/p>\n

The NECC President\u2019s Running Club was started six years ago by Northern Essex President Lane Glenn, an avid runner who has been president of the college since 2011.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought it would be a great idea to encourage fitness for employees and students and a social way of getting together,\u201d he says.\u00a0 \u201cThe goal is to enjoy ourselves and for everybody to improve their fitness, wherever they start from.\u201d<\/p>\n
