{"id":27495,"date":"2019-10-22T15:21:17","date_gmt":"2019-10-22T19:21:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom2\/2019\/10\/22\/necc-to-offer-free-robotics-automation-program\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T14:20:04","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T18:20:04","slug":"necc-to-offer-free-robotics-automation-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom\/2019\/10\/22\/necc-to-offer-free-robotics-automation-program\/","title":{"rendered":"NECC to Offer Free Robotics &amp; Automation Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_21627\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/media-old\/2019\/10\/109473108_s.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-21627\" class=\"wp-image-21627 size-medium\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/media-old\/2019\/10\/109473108_s-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"graphic of a person reaching for a laptop keyboard with robotic automation in the background.\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-21627\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A free, noncredit robotics and automation program will be offered next year at NECC.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.necc.mass.edu\">Northern Essex Community College<\/a> is holding information sessions October 30, November 20, and December 11, for individuals to learn about a seven-week, 140-hour \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.necc.mass.edu\/noncredit\/occupational-training-development\/robotics-automation-training\/\">Robotics &amp; Automation Training Program<\/a> that begins this winter.<\/p>\n<p>The grant-funded, noncredit program is free to qualified applicants.<\/p>\n<p>The information sessions, which are free and open to the public, will be held at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glts.net\/\">Greater Lawrence Technical School<\/a>, (GLTS) 57 River Road, Andover, at 4 p.m. The program, which is designed for unemployed and underemployed individuals (ages 17 to 29) with the minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, runs from January 21 through March 13, Mondays through Thursdays, 4 to 9 p.m. at GLTS.<\/p>\n<p>The program is ideal for anyone with mechanical, electrical, IT or manufacturing skills or experience.<\/p>\n<p>This program introduces the concepts and technology used in modern manufacturing environments. Students learn fundamental skills that will help them gain employment as a manufacturing technician or related position and prepare them for the specific training required by manufacturing companies running automated equipment. The program includes online modules as well as hands-on activities using training equipment. The concepts and skills presented during the program are relevant to setup, programming, running and troubleshooting automated equipment and industrial robots.<\/p>\n<p>Students who successfully complete the robotics portion of the program by passing the online modules, hands-on labs and final exam, will receive the FANUC CERT \u201cHandling Tool Operations and Programming\u201d Cert Level I.<\/p>\n<p>The program, offered through NECC\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.necc.mass.edu\/noncredit\/contact\/\">Center for Corporate and Community Education<\/a>, \u00a0is sponsored by a $4 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration.
