{"id":27776,"date":"2018-04-26T20:18:22","date_gmt":"2018-04-27T00:18:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom2\/2018\/04\/27\/necc-president-joins-presidents-alliance-on-higher-education-and-immigration\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T16:20:38","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T20:20:38","slug":"necc-president-joins-presidents-alliance-on-higher-education-and-immigration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom\/2018\/04\/26\/necc-president-joins-presidents-alliance-on-higher-education-and-immigration\/","title":{"rendered":"NECC President Joins President\u2019s Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/media-old\/2017\/05\/Lane.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-15745 size-medium\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/media-old\/2017\/05\/Lane-210x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"210\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>Northern Essex Community College President Lane Glenn has joined the Presidents\u2019 Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration, a coalition of higher education leaders dedicated to increasing public understanding of how immigration policies and practices impact students, campuses, and communities.<\/p>\n<p>Launched in November of 2017, this non-partisan organization includes more than 300 college and university presidents and chancellors, who support policies and practices that create a welcoming environment for immigrant, undocumented, and international students on U.S. campuses.<\/p>\n<p>Close to 40% of Northern Essex\u2019s student population is Hispanic and in 2001, the college became the first federally designated Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) in New England.\u00a0 Northern Essex has campuses in Haverhill and Lawrence, MA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI firmly believe the adoption and pursuit of these principles are critical not only for the well being and success of NECC\u2019s students, but for the economic and workforce development of the communities we serve, and the just and equitable future we strive toward for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts,\u201d wrote Glenn in his <a href=\"https:\/\/president.necc.mass.edu\/presidents-alliance-on-higher-education-and-immigration\/\">\u201cRunning the Campus\u201d blog.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The alliance\u2019s founding statement, steering committee, founding presidents and membership can be found at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.presidentsimmigrationalliance.org\/\">www.presidentsimmigrationalliance.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Northern Essex Community College President Lane Glenn has joined the Presidents\u2019 Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration, a coalition of higher education leaders dedicated to increasing public understanding of how [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":27,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"inline_featured_image":false,"footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"categories":[10],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-27776","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-archive"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.2 -
