{"id":27939,"date":"2018-08-23T13:23:14","date_gmt":"2018-08-23T17:23:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom2\/2018\/08\/23\/dubus-to-speak-at-necc-fundraiser\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T16:23:58","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T20:23:58","slug":"dubus-to-speak-at-necc-fundraiser","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom\/2018\/08\/23\/dubus-to-speak-at-necc-fundraiser\/","title":{"rendered":"Dubus to Speak at NECC Fundraiser"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_18672\" style=\"width: 263px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/media-old\/2018\/08\/Andre-Dubus-III.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-18672\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-18672\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/media-old\/2018\/08\/Andre-Dubus-III-253x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"253\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-18672\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Andre Dubus III will be the guest speaker at the Women of NECC Membership Tea in October.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Just in time for the release of his first book in a decade, author Andre Dubus III will be the guest speaker at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.necc.mass.edu\/engage\/alumni-and-giving\/necc-boards\/women-of-necc\/\">Women of NECC<\/a> membership tea on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at noon at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.necc.mass.edu\">Northern Essex Community College<\/a>\u2019s Hartleb Technology Center on the Haverhill campus, 100 Elliott St.<\/p>\n<p>The Newbury resident will return to NECC to discuss his newest novel \u201cGone So Long,\u201d which explores how the wounds of the past afflict the people we become and probes the limits of recovery and absolution.<\/p>\n<p>His presentation will be followed by a question and answer session along with a book signing. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $50 each. To reserve tickets or tables call Lori Smerdon in NECC\u2019s Office of Institutional Advancement at 978-556-3789 or email her at <a href=\"mailto:lsmerdon@necc.mass.edu\">lsmerdon@necc.mass.edu<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dubus is also the author of\u00a0\u201cDirty Love,\u201d\u00a0\u201cTownie,\u201d\u00a0\u201cThe Garden of Last Days,\u201d\u00a0and\u00a0\u201cHouse of Sand and Fog,\u201d\u00a0(an Oprah Book Club pick and a finalist for the National Book Award).
