{"id":28323,"date":"2017-03-30T15:31:14","date_gmt":"2017-03-30T19:31:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom2\/2017\/03\/30\/neccs-stem-college-for-kids-continues-at-windham-location\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T17:07:15","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T21:07:15","slug":"neccs-stem-college-for-kids-continues-at-windham-location","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom\/2017\/03\/30\/neccs-stem-college-for-kids-continues-at-windham-location\/","title":{"rendered":"STEM College for Kids Continues at Quarrybrook"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_15476\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/media-old\/2017\/03\/College4Kids-newsroom.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-15476\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-15476\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/media-old\/2017\/03\/College4Kids-newsroom-300x233.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"233\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-15476\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Children enjoy the outdoor offerings available on the 245 acres of land at Quarrybrook Experiential Education Center\u00a0in Windham, NH.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Crazy chemistry, natural skin care, nature photography, and comic strip design are just a few of the two dozen course offerings at this summer\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.necc.mass.edu\/\">Northern Essex Community College<\/a>\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.necc.mass.edu\/community-engagement\/college-for-kids\/\">STEM College for Kids Program<\/a> which will again be offered at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quarrybrook.org\/\">Quarrybrook Experiential Education Center<\/a>, 39 Roulston Road, Windham, NH., from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>This year, there will be a focus on exploring and using the resources of the 245 acres of land at Quarrybrook, NECC\u2019s affiliate campus. Here is a complete <a href=\"https:\/\/www.necc.mass.edu\/cfk-courses\">list<\/a> of STEM College for Kids 2017 courses.<\/p>\n<p>Weekly classes will run from July 17 through August 11. Each week offers three, fixed daily sessions with different offerings for juniors (grades three to five) and seniors (grades six to eight). Students can choose which weeks and courses they wish to attend. They do not need to enroll for all four weeks or all three daily sessions. They can enroll in one, two, or three of the sessions for the day. Classes are two hours each. Start times are 9 and 11:45 a.m. and 2 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Each course that is offered is $100 which includes the course fee and all materials.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to a wide variety of new offerings STEM College for Kids is piloting an early drop-off and late pick-up program. Students can be dropped off as early as 8 a.m. and picked up as late as 5 p.m. There is an additional charge of $25 for each hour for the week. STEM College for Kids will offer transportation this year as well. Parents can drop their child off at the Riverwalk Campus, 365 Merrimack St., Lawrence. They will be bussed to Quarrybrook. This is also $25 per week.<\/p>\n<p>Registration will be 100% <a href=\"https:\/\/www.necc.mass.edu\/college4kids\">online<\/a> for courses, early drop off, late pick up, or transportation. at .
