{"id":28340,"date":"2017-04-04T18:00:59","date_gmt":"2017-04-04T22:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom2\/2017\/04\/04\/necc-offers-potential-students-free-bridge-to-higher-education\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T17:07:35","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T21:07:35","slug":"necc-offers-potential-students-free-bridge-to-higher-education","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom\/2017\/04\/04\/necc-offers-potential-students-free-bridge-to-higher-education\/","title":{"rendered":"NECC Offers Potential Students Free &#8220;Bridge&#8221; to Higher Education"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/media-old\/2017\/04\/BTCAC.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-15526 alignright\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/media-old\/2017\/04\/BTCAC-300x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Prospective Northern Essex Community College students who want to attend, but don&#8217;t think they&#8217;re quite ready to commit to a full certificate or degree plan, still have an option: the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.necc.mass.edu\/blog\/2014\/10\/17\/registration-for-esol-bridge-to-college-and-careers-program\/\">Bridge to College and Careers<\/a> program, specifically designed to give adult English language learners a free pathway to higher education.<\/p>\n<p>An offering of the school&#8217;s Center for Adult Education Programs and Preparation, the Bridge program is an intensive two-semester program designed to improve students&#8217; English reading, writing, and math skills so they&#8217;re better-equipped to handle the Accuplacer placement test.<\/p>\n<p>Those interested in exploring careers in information technology, health care or business may qualify for the Bridge to College and Careers program. A placement test is required upon registration. Registration days for fall 2017 enrollment are Tuesday, April 25 and Tuesday, May 23 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at NECC Riverwalk, 360 Merrimack Street, Building 9, Entrance K, Room 309.
