{"id":28550,"date":"2017-08-18T16:49:32","date_gmt":"2017-08-18T20:49:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom2\/2017\/08\/18\/neccs-cool-announces-fall-seminars-2\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T17:11:37","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T21:11:37","slug":"neccs-cool-announces-fall-seminars-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom\/2017\/08\/18\/neccs-cool-announces-fall-seminars-2\/","title":{"rendered":"NECC\u2019s CoOL Announces Fall Seminars"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/media-old\/2014\/08\/CoOL.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-9278\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/media-old\/2014\/08\/CoOL-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>Adults 50 and older who are interested in learning for the fun of learning are invited to check out the series of seminars planned this fall by Northern Essex Community College\u2019s College of Older Learners (CoOL).<\/p>\n<p>This fall\u2019s seminars cover a wide range of topics from \u201cGenetic Engineering\u201d to \u201cWhat is Comedy\u201d to \u201cGlobal Weather.\u201d \u00a0Those interested are invited to attend a seminar showcase on Tuesday, August 29 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Hartleb Technology Center on the Haverhill Campus, 100 Elliott St.\u00a0 Each teacher will present an overview of his or her seminar so participants can decide which seminars are the best fit with their interests.<\/p>\n<p>All of the seminars meet on a designated week-day for six consecutive weeks, unless otherwise noted, at the Haverhill campus or off-campus. The cost is $30 for each seminar and seminars run September to mid-October and late-October to November.<\/p>\n<p>For additional information visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.necc.mass.edu\/community-engagement\/cool\/seminars\/\">CoOL seminar website<\/a> or contact NECC\u2019s Christine DeRosa, 978 659-1225 or <a href=\"mailto:dderosa@necc.mass.edu\">dderosa@necc.mass.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>With campuses in Haverhill and Lawrence, Northern Essex Community College offers over 60 associate degree and certificate programs as well as hundreds of noncredit courses designed for personal enrichment and career growth.\u00a0 Nearly 6,000 students are enrolled in credit associate degree and certificate programs on the Haverhill and Lawrence campuses; and another 3,000 take noncredit workforce development and community education classes on campus and at the Opportunity Works building at 671 Kenoza St., located next to the Haverhill campus, and at businesses and community sites across the Merrimack Valley.
