In addition to classroom work, students train at two practicum sites. The classes, which are offered online as well as the traditional classroom, provide students with the knowledge and technical skills required for an entry-level position as a certified ophthalmic assistant. To prepare students, the program integrates classroom theory, laboratory experience, and clinical practice.<\/p>\n<p>Ophthalmic assistants gather medical histories, conduct vision tests, coordinate patient schedules, and assist eye doctors and eye surgeons with various procedural and clerical duties.<\/p>\n<p>iHealth@NECC features a state-of-the-art ophthalmic lab.
