Kelsey Trudel of Salisbury and Madison Crateau of Georgetown were selected to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XV All Tournament Team.<\/p><\/div>\n

When is a loss a win? When you are the Northern Essex Community College Knights softball team.<\/p>\n

In just its second year as a varsity sport, the fledgling team ended its season Saturday, April 30, with a respectable third-place finish in the Region XV tournament in Westchester, New York. The Knights fell to Nassau Community College 12 to 2.<\/p>\n

The Knights were held scoreless until a late scoring drive in the bottom of the 7th.<\/p>\n

On another positive note, NECC players Madison Crateau of Georgetown and Kelsey Trudel of Salisbury were selected to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XV All Tournament Team.<\/p>\n

The Knight’s finished their season with a conference record of 8 and 4 and an overall record of 12 and 10.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was only our second year as a varsity college program,\u201d said NECC Athletic Director Sue MacAvoy, \u201cI look for more good things to come. Coach Hobbs will be out recruiting over the next two months looking for players interested in attending NECC and being a member of the softball team\u201d.<\/p>\n

Northern Essex offers seven varsity sports teams including men\u2019s basketball, women\u2019s basketball, baseball, softball, track & field, and volleyball. NECC\u2019s philosophy is that the classroom experience is what makes a well-rounded athlete.<\/p>\n
