{"id":29024,"date":"2016-06-02T13:25:05","date_gmt":"2016-06-02T17:25:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom2\/2016\/06\/02\/necc-event-provides-evaluation-of-credits-from-other-countries\/"},"modified":"2026-05-18T15:57:54","modified_gmt":"2026-05-18T19:57:54","slug":"necc-event-provides-evaluation-of-credits-from-other-countries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom\/2016\/06\/02\/necc-event-provides-evaluation-of-credits-from-other-countries\/","title":{"rendered":"NECC Event Provides Evaluation of Credits from other Countries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/media-old\/2016\/03\/El-Hefni-e1464881104411.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-13021 size-medium\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/media-old\/2016\/03\/El-Hefni-300x202.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"202\" \/><\/a>Immigrants with high school\u00a0diplomas\u00a0or college credits from other countries are invited to have those diplomas or credits evaluated at Northern Essex Community College\u2019s Lawrence Campus, El-Hefni Allied Health &amp; Technology Center, 414 Common St, on Monday, June 20 from 6 to 8 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Northern Essex is offering this service in partnership with the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cedevaluations.com\/\">\u00a0Center for Education Documentation\u00a0(CED)<\/a> of Boston.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re interested in talking with students who have\u00a0attained\u00a0high school\u00a0diplomas\u00a0from another country and want to apply to college in the United States and with immigrants who have college credits or a full degree from a college or university outside the United States and want to continue their education here or\u00a0professionals who wish to\u00a0validate\u00a0their credentials,\u201d said Analuz Garcia, Lawrence campus and community relations assistant at NECC.<\/p>\n<p>At the June 20 event, representatives from CED will give a short presentation, explaining their evaluation process.\u00a0 Daniel Richer, NECC\u2019s director of admissions, will also discuss opportunities available at NECC, including\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.necc.mass.edu\/newsroom\/2016\/05\/02\/dominican-leaders-visit-necc\/\">PI\u00c9S Latinos<\/a> at NECC,\u00a0a new initiative created to increase higher education attainment among immigrants living in Greater Lawrence\u00a0and beyond.\u00a0 Those interested in evaluations are asked to bring their high school diploma, college degrees and or transcripts\u00a0from another country\u00a0to the event to begin the evaluation process. If the documents are in Spanish, Portuguese\u00a0or French, they do not need to be notarized or translated to English.\u00a0Staff will be on hand to assist with questions.<\/p>\n<p>General evaluations are $80 and a course by course evaluation is $130.<\/p>\n<p>This event kicks off NECC\u2019s partnership with CED.\u00a0 In the future, students educated abroad will be able to submit transcripts at the NECC Career Planning and Advising Center (CPAC), also located in the El-Hefni Allied Health &amp; Technology Center, 414 Common St., Lawrence.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.necc.mass.edu\/newsroom\/2016\/05\/02\/dominican-leaders-visit-necc\/\">PI\u00c9S Latinos de NECC<\/a>\u00a0was created to increase higher education attainment among Latino immigrants living in Greater Lawrence.\u00a0 PI\u00c9S will focus on helping immigrants validate and transfer foreign credits to NECC and other colleges in Massachusetts and validate their foreign degrees with job training.\u00a0 PI\u00c9S will also provide support for Latinos outside the U.S. interested in attending college in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>The Center for Educational Documentation provides professional assistance in interpreting the educational background of persons educated abroad.\u00a0 Advisory statements on educational equivalency are prepared on request for colleges and universities, professional associations, government agencies, and public school systems.<\/p>\n<p>For more information and application forms, please contact Analuz Garcia at 978 738-7423,\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:agarcia@necc.mass.edu\">agarcia@necc.mass.edu<\/a>, or Hilce Cassanelli at 978 738-7402,\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:hcassanelli@necc.mass.edu\">hcassanelli@necc.mass.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Immigrants with high school\u00a0diplomas\u00a0or college credits from other countries are invited to have those diplomas or credits evaluated at Northern Essex Community College\u2019s Lawrence Campus, El-Hefni Allied Health &amp;
