Tina McNeil Criminal Justice<\/p><\/div>\n

Managing full-time work with parenting two teen girls and an almost full-time college schedule isn\u2019t easy, but Tina McNeil proves it can be done.<\/p>\n

A regional manager for Kohl\u2019s department store and the single parent of a 13 and 15 year old, Tina\u2019s weekly schedule is enough to make your head spin, but she wouldn\u2019t have it any other way.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m doing this for me and it\u2019s the best thing I\u2019ve ever done,\u201d says the criminal justice<\/a> major \u201cI can\u2019t wait to continue on for my bachelor\u2019s degree at UMASS Lowell and I\u2019m not stopping until I get at least a Master\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Tina prefers traditional classroom classes, she does appreciate the flexibility of online classes<\/a> and accelerated classes which are five or eight weeks long, rather than the traditional 14 weeks.<\/p>\n

And, she\u2019s been able to participate in the full college experience, visiting Ecuador as part of the college\u2019s Short Term Study Abroad Program<\/a> and securing an internship<\/a> in the Haverhill Probation Department.<\/p>\n

Time management is key, according to Tina, who says she writes everything down. \u201cI\u2019m very scheduled,\u201d she says. \u201cWe have family time and homework time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tina\u2019s girls are proud of their mother. Her younger daughter has a developing interest in criminal justice and enjoys learning what her mother is studying. Her oldest daughter is very focused on her mother\u2019s academic progress- she has a 3.45 GPA-and has proven to be an excellent math tutor.<\/p>\n

As a matter of fact, when Tina decided not to participate in graduation in May, her daughters wouldn\u2019t hear of it. \u201cThey begged me to take part in commencement so they could watch me get my degree.\u201d Of course, Tina said \u201cyes.\u201d<\/p>\n
