{"id":29170,"date":"2016-09-09T18:30:25","date_gmt":"2016-09-09T22:30:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom2\/2016\/09\/09\/necc-hosts-info-session-for-displaced-itt-tech-students\/"},"modified":"2026-05-18T16:00:47","modified_gmt":"2026-05-18T20:00:47","slug":"necc-hosts-info-session-for-displaced-itt-tech-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom\/2016\/09\/09\/necc-hosts-info-session-for-displaced-itt-tech-students\/","title":{"rendered":"NECC Hosts Info Session for Displaced ITT Tech Students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/media-old\/2016\/09\/201609-000_v4Landing-Page-Image-Engineering.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-14231\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/media-old\/2016\/09\/201609-000_v4Landing-Page-Image-Engineering-300x166.jpg\" alt=\"201609-000_v4landing-page-image-engineering\" width=\"300\" height=\"166\" \/><\/a>Northern Essex Community College is reaching out to local students who were impacted by the sudden closing of ITT Technical Institute, which announced earlier this week that they would be shutting down 130 campuses nationwide including a campus in Wilmington, MA.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, September 12, Northern Essex is hosting an ITT Tech Info Day where displaced students can learn about options available for them through Northern Essex including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.necc.mass.edu\/academics\/courses-programs\/areas\/\">programs<\/a>, transferring of credits, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.necc.mass.edu\/getting-started\/financial-aid\/\">financial aid<\/a>.\u00a0 The 45-minute information session will be held at 9 a.m. in the Hartleb Technology Center, Room 103A, on Northern Essex\u2019s Haverhill Campus, 100 Elliott St., Haverhill, MA.\u00a0 It will be followed by a tour of the Haverhill Campus and the opportunity to meet individually with a campus advisor until 5 p.m..<\/p>\n<p>ITT Tech\u2019s Wilmington Campus was located 20 miles from Northern Essex\u2019s Haverhill Campus and 14 miles from the college\u2019s Lawrence Campus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re hoping that Northern Essex will be a viable option for ITT Tech students who want to continue their education with as little disruption as possible,\u201d said Danny Richer, NECC\u2019s director of recruitment and admissions.<\/p>\n<p>Many ITT Tech students are studying computer science or related fields; Northern Essex has three associate degree programs as well as seven certificate programs in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.necc.mass.edu\/academics\/courses-programs\/areas\/cis\/\">computer and information sciences<\/a>.\u00a0 Northern Essex offers over 70 degree programs, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.necc.mass.edu\/academics\/courses-programs\/areas\/business\/\">business<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.necc.mass.edu\/academics\/courses-programs\/areas\/criminal-justice\/\">criminal justice<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Students planning to attend Monday\u2019s information session should bring a photo ID and ITT academic records, including official and unofficial transcripts. Students should also bring a list of courses taken at ITT Tech, including course syllabi or course descriptions, if possible.<\/p>\n<p>Those using the GI Bill should bring the DD Form\u00a0214, which is issued on\u00a0discharge, separation or retirement from military service, and a Veterans Administration Certificate of Eligibility.
