Award-winning poet, Denice Frohman, will perform during the White Fund lecture in January.<\/p><\/div>\n

Denice Frohman<\/a>, an award-winning poet, writer, speaker, educator, and author of the poem \u201cDear Straight People,\u201d<\/a> which went viral with well over two million views on YouTube, will perform during \u201cAn Evening with Denice Frohman\u201d at the Thursday, January 19, 2017, White Fund<\/a> lecture offered in partnership with Northern Essex Community College<\/a> at 7 p.m. at Lawrence High School, 70-71 North Parish Road in Lawrence.<\/p>\n

This event is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n

Her work explores\u00a0the intersections\u00a0of race\/ethnicity, gender, and sexuality. She is the 2013 Women of the World Poetry Slam Champion, 2014 CantoMundo Fellow, 2013 Hispanic Choice Award winner, and 2012 Leeway Transformation Award recipient. Her work has appeared in\u00a0ESPN, the\u00a0Huffington Post,\u00a0Split This Rock\u2019s\u00a0The Quarry,\u00a0and the forthcoming book,\u00a0Jotas: An Anthology of Queer Latina Voices. She has a Master\u2019s in Education and was the former Program Director at The Philly Youth Poetry Movement.<\/p>\n

The White Fund\u2019s purpose is to have a free series of interactive presentations for Lawrence area adults, youth, and children. The audience is encouraged to seek wisdom, cultural enrichment, and intellectual enhancement by attending and participating.<\/p>\n

The views expressed in the White Fund Enlightenment Series Presentations are the views of the speaker and do not necessarily reflect the views or policies of Northern Essex Community College.<\/p>\n

Funded by a generous financial gift from the Honorable Daniel Appleton White, the White Fund Lecture Series has provided cultural conversation featuring well-known lecturers in fields such as history, literature, travel, the arts, and politics. The White Fund is collaborating with Northern Essex on this series.<\/p>\n
