When she first enrolled in the college\u2019s Liberal Arts:<a href=\"https:\/\/www.necc.mass.edu\/academics\/courses-programs\/areas\/communication-arts\/liberal-arts-journalism-communication\/\">Journalism\/Communication Program<\/a>, she knew she had found the right start on her academic and career track.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNorthern Essex was a good foot in the door and a great money-saver,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_11934\" style=\"width: 210px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/media-old\/2015\/08\/FaithGregory.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11934\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-11934\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/media-old\/2015\/08\/FaithGregory-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"NECC Journalism\/Communcation graduate Faith Gregory\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-11934\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">NECC Journalism\/Communcation graduate Faith Gregory<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Faith settled into campus life with ease, becoming an active member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.necc.mass.edu\/student-life\/activities\/clubs\/\">Contemporary Affairs Club, Gay\/Straight Alliance<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.necc.mass.edu\/academics\/enrichment\/observer\/\">The Observer<\/a>, NECC\u2019s award-winning student newspaper. In the fall of 2014 she took over as editor-in-chief of the paper, where she served through the spring of 2015. She credits her involvement with The Observer and various other campus activities with helping her on her path to success.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe campus provided so many different opportunities and avenues for students like me who wished to gain first-hand experience in their fields,\u201d she says. \u201cI found such a great range of activities that helped enhance my profile.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This fall, Faith will transfer to Hampshire College, where she will pursue a bachelor\u2019s degree in journalism and minor in French. She hopes to continue her educational track through the graduate level to work toward a career as a legal activist for nonprofit organizations. She cannot say enough about NECC\u2019s help in getting her on this path.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNECC made it so easy to transfer to a four-year school. I\u2019ve accrued such a small amount of debt, which will make the financial load of a bachelor\u2019s degree much easier to manage, and I have the skills I need to continue on.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Merrimac resident Faith Gregory came to NECC with a passion for journalism and a plan to make the most of it.
