{"id":29723,"date":"2015-12-15T20:42:51","date_gmt":"2015-12-16T01:42:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom2\/2015\/12\/16\/peace-poems-sought-for-8th-annual-contest\/"},"modified":"2026-05-18T16:21:00","modified_gmt":"2026-05-18T20:21:00","slug":"peace-poems-sought-for-8th-annual-contest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/necc.edu\/newsroom\/2015\/12\/15\/peace-poems-sought-for-8th-annual-contest\/","title":{"rendered":"Peace Poems Sought for 8th Annual Contest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/media-old\/2015\/12\/peace.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-12579\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/media-old\/2015\/12\/peace.jpg\" alt=\"peace\" width=\"250\" height=\"244\" \/><\/a>Students in grades kindergarten through 12, both from public and private schools, as well as adults affiliated with the schools, and Northern Essex Community College students, are invited to participate in Northern Essex Community College\u2019s Eighth Annual Peace Poetry Contest and Reading. Participants may create and submit original poems on the subject of peace.<\/p>\n<p>The deadline for submission is Tuesday, March 15, 2016. Some 80 poems and accompanying artwork will be selected for publication in a small book of poetry to be published later in the spring. In addition, selected entrants will be invited to take part in a poetry reading from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 6 in the Hartleb Technology Center on Northern Essex\u2019s Haverhill Campus.<\/p>\n<p>Since its inception, the contest has attracted thousands of submissions. Last year alone, more than 1000 entries from over 50 schools were submitted. The contest is coordinated by NECC English Professor Dr. Paul G.
