Students in Juan Barboza-Gubo\u2019s Color & Design class recently completed several abstract, faux, stained-glass window murals, in the B and C buildings, using black electrical tape and colored tissue paper. The intent of the assignment was to teach color skill.<\/p>\n

Linda Comeau<\/strong>, associate director of enrollment services, is being honored by the YWCA of Greater Lawrence\u2019s as part of its annual Tribute to Women. Each May, the YWCA of Greater Lawrence sponsors an awards luncheon, Tribute to Women, to honor a select group of women living and\/or working in the Merrimack Valley who have made exemplary contributions to business and community.<\/p>\n

\n

NECC graphic design professor Lance Hidy <\/strong>just completed a major book design project, a 240-page photographic history of the White House for Little, Brown. He has been working on this project day and night for weeks.<\/p>\n

Kerri-Anne Covey<\/strong> of Salem, N.H., a radiologic technology student at Northern Essex Community College, has been selected to participate in the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) 2011 Student Initiative Program.<\/p>\n

Covey was one of 62 students chosen from more than 180 entries submitted by radiologic science students from around the country.As a participant, Covey will receive an all expenses paid trip to the ASRT Educational Symposium and Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting, June 16-19, in Albuquerque, N.M. Additionally, she will attend an educational program at the symposium specifically designed for students and be assigned a professional mentor.<\/p>\n

Liberal arts student Daniel Dwyer<\/strong> has been accepted to participate in the Baden W\u00fcrttemberg Stipendium Work Immersion Study Program (WISP) this summer in Germany.<\/p>\n

The Baden W\u00fcrttemberg Stipendium Work Immersion Study Program, available to community college students, is a fully funded three-month work study immersion program that gives participants practical work experience, a chance to improve their German language skills, and exposure to the German culture.<\/p>\n

A graduate of Whittier Vocational Technical High School in 2010, Dwyer first heard about this program from his professor, Joe Guy, and jumped at the opportunity. Dwyer is looking forward to traveling and being able to teach English to others. Dwyer says \u201cthe application process is very stressful, but in the end it was worth it.\u201d Interested applicants must be attending a community college, have completed one semester of German language, complete an intensive application, and provide letters of recommendations.<\/p>\n

Dwyer will leave for Radolfzell, Germany in June.<\/p>\n

Track and Field star Noelia Figuereo<\/strong> of Haverhill is National Champion in the 100 and came in third in the 200 at the recent NJCAA National Meet in Alfred, NY.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
