Haverhill, MA (August 14, 2023) – In just two weeks, more than 200 area golfers will hit the links in support of the Northern Essex Community College Athletic Program. The sixth annual golf tournament will be held at the Renaissance Golf Club in Haverhill, MA, on August 28th. The event will feature a morning and afternoon flight for the first time. Prizes will be awarded to each flight’s top teams and contest winners.
“The tournament is our single largest fundraiser for the NECC Athletic program and provides us with additional resources to enhance the student-athlete experience for all those students in the program,” said NECC Director of Athletics, Dan Blair. The tournament has grown every year, and as we continue to establish ourselves on the national stage, the funds raised from this event are vitally important to the growth and success of the department.”

Recently, strong showings from Northern Essex Community College athletic teams earned the program its first-ever top 30 ranking from the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA). NECC was the only New England community college to finish among the top 30 programs. Both the men’s basketball and baseball teams made it to national tournament play, and for the ‘22/23 academic year, seven students were named NJCAA All-Academic Scholars. The NECC E-sports team will return this fall, bringing the total number of varsity athletics offerings to 15.
