In 2021, the NECC Police Academy became the first municipal police academy – and the first community college – in Massachusetts to be accepted into the Georgetown University Law Center Active Bystandership for Law Enforcement (ABLE) Project. Created in 2020, the ABLE Project is a national training and support initiative committed to building a culture of peer intervention that prevents harm.
