Student Government Association

SGA works on:

• Community Impact projects and grassroots initiatives to support the betterment of students’ lives at NECC
• Listening to and discussing student concerns, then bringing them to the appropriate administrators
• Reviewing annual budget requests from clubs and organizations
• Overseeing fundraising for SGA Student Body Gifts & Class Gifts
• Hosting events that engage and educate the student body
• Representing NECC at open houses, UKnighted Fairs, and major campus events
• Helping members build confidence, communication skills, and leadership experience
• Participating in All College Assembly committees and reporting on SGA initiatives

Eligibility Requirements

1. Ability to attend meetings on every other Tuesday, 4–5:30 PM
2. Minimum 2.3 GPA for Executive Board positions
3. Enrolled in 6+ credits during each semester you serve
4. In good academic and conduct standing
5. Submit the interest form to be considered

A Call to Action

Before submitting your interest form, we invite you to read the attached letter from Nicholas Vintzileos, SGA President (2025). In his message, Nicholas reflects on how SGA helped him build confidence, find community, and make a meaningful impact—from supporting student needs to developing campus-wide initiatives.

He encourages new students to step forward and continue this work:

As you consider running for a position, his letter offers a motivating look at what SGA leadership can mean for your growth, your future, and the NECC community.

SGA Suggestion & Request for Information Inbox

Use this anonymous form to share your ideas, concerns, or suggestions about the NECC experience.

Every positive change begins with an idea—and your voice helps guide the work SGA brings to college leadership. You may submit anonymously or include contact info if you’d like a response.

Students are also welcome to bring ideas directly to SGA meetings, held every other Tuesday at 4:00 PM during fall and spring semesters.

SGA Student Body Gifts

• 2019: Foosball table and board games for Lawrence Campus
• 2020: Outdoor study seating on Haverhill Campus
• 2021: Water bottle fill station in the Dimitry Building (Lawrence)
• 2022: Sensory Space in Cube 3, Behrakis Student Center (Haverhill)
• 2025: Revamped Student Lounge in Dimitry Lower Level (Lawrence)

Golden Lamp Award 

The Student Government Association is seeking students to nominate outstanding faculty or staff members for recognition!

Is there a faculty or staff member that you know who:

• has helped you excel in a specific class or on a specific assignment?
• has gone above and beyond the call of duty for you or another student?
• has generally made your life better while at NECC?

If so, please nominate them for SGA’s Golden Lamp Award using this form.

Students may nominate one person per semester.

All nominees receive a copy of their nomination and a certificate. Three recipients per semester also receive an SGA gift.
