As a member of the Student Government Association, your voice, actions, and decisions can have an immediate and long-term impact on the NECC student body. You’ll help identify and address student concerns while creating an inclusive environment and promoting better communication and collaboration among students, faculty, and staff. As a student involved in SGA you can attend regional conferences and summits and this will make a powerful addition to your resume.

What Does the Student Government Association do?

Meetings:

SGA meets every other Tuesday at 4:00 PM during the fall and spring semesters. Meetings take place in person in SC-203 (Haverhill) or on Zoom. All NECC students are welcome. Email SGA for Zoom access.

SGA works on:

  • Listening to and discussing student concerns, then bringing them to the appropriate administrators
  • Reviewing annual budget requests from clubs and organizations
  • Overseeing fundraising for the annual Class Gift
  • Hosting events that engage and educate the student body
  • Representing NECC at open houses, U-Knighted Fairs, and major campus events
  • Helping members build confidence, communication skills, and leadership experience

A Call to Action

Before submitting your interest form, we invite you to read the attached letter from Nicholas Vintzileos, outgoing SGA President. In his message, Nicholas reflects on how SGA helped him build confidence, find community, and make a meaningful impact—from supporting student needs to developing campus-wide initiatives.

He encourages new students to step forward and continue this work:

“This is your turn to carry the torch and carry NECC to that next level… Your student involvement will inspire others to get involved.”

As you consider running for a position, his letter offers a motivating look at what SGA leadership can mean for your growth, your future, and the NECC community.

SGA Executive Board

Meet the 2025-2026 Student Government Association Executive Board

Advisor, Suzanne Reyes (she/her)

My name is Suzanne Reyes. I started working in the Office of Student Life at NECC in April of 2022. I studied at the University of Massachusetts Boston and earned my Bachelor’s in Gender and Sexualities Studies and Early Childhood Education. I have previously worked as a mental health counselor and an elementary educator. In my off time, I like to spend time with my family, crafting, shopping, trying new restaurants in the area, and eating ice cream. I am so excited to work with SGA this year and be more engaged with student life on campus. Please feel free to reach out to me via email.

Advisor, Brianna Sorensen (she/her)

My name is Brianna Sorensen, but most people call me Bri! I started working at NECC in May 2025 and am excited to bring a wealth of experience in higher education and student life to our campus. Before NECC, I worked in Residential Life and Student Activities in community colleges and four-year universities across New Hampshire and relocated to Massachusetts to be closer to family. I have my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Lowell (2020) and a master’s in Higher Education Administration from New England College (2025). In undergrad, I was an active member of Student Government, and have seen firsthand how involved and engaged students can make campus a better and brighter place to be. I’m looking forward to advising SGA and focusing on student engagement in events, community impact projects, and student advocacy. Please feel free to reach out to me via email.
