NECC Book Club

The NECC Librarians invite all students, staff, and faculty to join our lively monthly book discussions. Check the NECC events page for upcoming dates. Knight’s Reading Challenge 2026- 2027

Join NECC’s Knight’s Reading Challenge: read 12 books in 12 months this academic year! Each month features a different theme chosen by our NECC Librarians. Participate by reading a book, ebook, or audiobook that matches the monthly theme. Once you’ve read your book, fill out a short questionnaire about your reading. Library staff will draw one name each month to win a prize! All Northern Essex Community College students, faculty, staff, and alumni are encouraged to participate in the Knight’s Reading Challenge.

Themes for the monthly reading challenge:
September: A banned or challenged book
October: National Hispanic Heritage Month
November: National Native American Heritage Month
December: A holiday read
January: Muslim American Heritage Month
February: Black History Month
March: Women’s History Month/Irish American Heritage Month
April: Arab American Heritage Month/National Deaf History Month
May: Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month/Jewish American Heritage Month
June: LGBTQ+Pride Month/Caribbean-American Heritage Month
July: Disability Pride Month
August: Reader’s choice

Prizes will vary by month, but include:

Gift cards 
Book themed prizes
NECC swag
