Peer Note Taker Jobs

Become a paid note-taker and make a difference on campus by providing lecture notes for students with a learning or other documented disability, as well as those who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. You can conveniently take notes for a class you are already enrolled in or pick up an unassigned class that easily fits into your academic schedule. The Center for Accessibility Resources & Services (CARS) maintains an updated list of Northern Essex Community College courses where a dedicated note-taker is currently needed.

Who Makes the Best Peer Note Taker?

We are looking for successful students with good communication and organization skills.

You are a great fit if you:

• Have completed, tested out of, or are proficient in the NECC Reading, Writing, and Reasoning (RWR) course (or show general proficiency in English language skills).
• Are currently taking or have already passed the class you want to take notes for.
• Know how to pick out and write down the most important points during lectures.
• Can ask your professor for feedback if you are ever uncertain about your note quality.
• Print neatly by hand or can type your notes on a laptop to easily email them to your classmate.

Important Job Requirements & Policy

Before you can start working and earning, you will need to attend a brief, half-hour training session hosted by our staff to review best practices. Please keep in mind that this student employment opportunity has strict eligibility rules.

Please Note: Students who are currently receiving note-taking services as a part of their own approved academic accommodations are not eligible to work as a peer note-taker.
